The Spoken Word

Are you doing or just reading?

I am learning so much more about being what I talk about, being able to not just say things, but actually walk them out. I can tell others how to do things, but if I am not willing to do them myself why should I say them. It is a constant lesson, something that I should know by now. As I was reading some verses this morning, this verse was one of them and I wanted to share it with you.

James 1:22-27 ESV
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

I want to continue to walk the way I talk and I am thankful that I am continually reminded that it can't be just words, but action as well.

Have a happy Thursday.
