Thoughts for today

2 Corinthians 10:12
"We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise."

Have you compared yourself to someone else? I know I have, I have said if I was more like so and so, then I would be happy, but the truth of the matter is we are who we are and we can't compare ourselves to other people, for they are who they are. God has made us individuals, just as no two snowflakes are the same, we are not the same as anyone else. Have you ever thought I wish my husband or wife was like... Well, they will not be like that person, because God made them just like themselves. Stop trying to wish someone to be someone else and start looking at yourself. Start being thankful for the person you have in your life, instead of thinking of things you want changed, start thinking of all the incredible attributes that individual has.

I have spent a lot of time wishing I was like so and so, but when it comes down to it, I was fearfully and wonderfully made to be me. I am not anyone else, I am the person God made me, yes the sins of the world cloud who I am, but I am still me. What I do to obtain what God wants me to be is not up to others, but up to me allowing God to work in me. Start making a list about attributes in yourself that you are thankful for and start being thankful in those things, stop saying if only I was thinner, if I was smarter, because guess what you are who you are and know what be thankful just the way you are. In the thanksgiving you will find more attributes to be thankful for.

I have said this many times before and in many different ways, but I can't be more straight forward then this and the Bible states in clear as a image you are reading:
1 Thessalonians 5:18 "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.How does one give thanks in all things? Just by making a change. The more we thank God for where we are at, the more we are able to see all that God has done in our lives. If we are constantly wishing we where somewhere else, the more we are not giving thanks for just all that God is doing in us.

Take today to make a list of all you have:

Lord thank you for giving me life, thank you for allowing me to breath, to see, to hear, thank you for giving me this life, thank you for where I am at, for You have me right where You want me, thank you for this morning, thank you for the sun that warms us, thank you for an amazing wife, thank you for my son for he was born in my heart and in that it shows me that a person does not have to have the same blood to make them my child, thank you for my step kids, for you continue to allow us to grow as a family, thank you... and I can go on and on.

Once I change my perspective from being negative about things, to giving thanks about everything. God allows us to change our focus from all the bad things that could happen and the what if's, to a heart of thanksgiving and praise.

How does the Bible say to come before the Lord? It says come before the Lord with thanksgiving and enter His courts with praise. How are you coming before the Lord today? Thank Him for what you have, thank Him for where you are, because He has you right where He wants to teach you and make you, you may have entered a storm in your life, thank God for that storm and see what He wants to teach you in it. If you are in a difficult spot, see what He is saying to you, thank Him for the spot you are in and be thankful. It is very difficult to do this, but we can't climb a mountain and expect it to be easy and once you get to the top, the view down is amazing. Look at each day as a step forward and you can't climb the mountain in a day, it will take time. Take it one day at a time, moment by moment, from glory to glory He is changing me.

Do you want change? Well, change starts with a step, it starts with you saying it is time to change and start doing something, change your perspective and change, but say you want to change and do nothing to allow change to come and guess what??? Yes you are right no change will come, but allow God to change your heart to show you the new perspective and you will start to see that coming before God in thanksgiving is a choice, just like getting up to see the positive in the day is a choice. Will you make that choice today?

Surrender

As I got moving this morning, this song played in my head. It is easy to start the day and start thinking about all that I have to do, think about work, think about my schedule, but am I willing to allow Jesus to do what He needs to do in my life. That is the real call, it isn't to go to work, to make money, to buy things, but to surrender all to Jesus. To walk day by day, moment by moment and when I try to see what tomorrow will hold, I am filled with the worry or doubts, but Jesus says look to today and He will provide. He is providing a walk day by day and He is with me.

The call is not to hold just what I want and give to Jesus the left over, but to give to Jesus ALL and He will provide me with what I need for today. Tomorrow will worry about itself, but today is what He is calling me to. It is time to give Him all and stop holding back? Today as the worry builds about tomorrow, look at what God has given you today and be thankful in that. Today is where God has you, take today for what it has and walk ye in it.

All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

I surrender all,
I surrender all.
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel Thy Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory to His name!

Our Weakness

2 Corinthians 13:4 "For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you."

In our weakness He is strong. It is so easy to try and fight to do everything my way, but when we surrender all to God, we admit that we do not know, we do not know how to do anything, because without Him we are nothing.

Have you ever found that when you are at the end of yourself that is where God comes in? It is when we reach the end of our will, the end of our fight that we can't do it on our own that God steps in and takes over. It is when we surrender all to Him, not just what we don't know, but in all things. I may think I know, but the truth of the matter is, that my way is not higher then His way, it is just the opposite. When I stop fighting for it to go my way and allow God to take over, it makes the difference.

Matthew 16:25 "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." Isn't it time to allow God to take control?

Allow God to take the lead in your life today, stop trying to do it your way, because it is His way that really matters, He is the way the truth and the light, isn't it time to allow Him. For when we allow Him, we lose ourselves, but gain Him.

God is the strength, but only if we are willing to surrender our will for His. It is when we stop fighting to do it our way, with our understanding and allow Him. Are you still fighting to do it your way or are you willing to allow God in all things? Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Allow God to take the lead, isn't it time for change, not just Sunday change, but every day change.
