Loving God

The greatest commandment is: Matthew 22:36-40 "36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”"

What it mean to Love God?

It means that I must put Him first. That means even before myself, because to love the things of the world, is not what God calls me to do. He calls me to love Him more than anything.

He says in John 14:15 ""If you love me, keep my commands." and then in again in the same chapter, He says it again. John 14:23 "Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them."

He wants me to put His way above every other way, because He knows that the world is full of doubt and fear, but trust comes to set us free. He says with Him we will be free indeed, but I have to put away my childish beliefs and follow Him. He has given me a way, but in order to say I love God, I have to be willing to surrender my way for His.

How many times have I fought with God for my own way, but in the end it would have been much easier if I put my old ways to bed and said God you know the way and I will walk in it. He has given me clear direction in the Bible, He has talked about swearing, He has talked about the world, He talks about marriage and how important it is to do it His way. If I did it my way, I would be like the world, because the world say it has to be all about self, but God says that Love has to be about Him and then others, self doesn't come in till the end. I remember a verse in Philippians 2:3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,"

To Love God, I must be willing to surrender all I have, trust completely in Him, because I don't want to be lukewarm, I want to be the man He has called me to be. Not just when I feel like it, but all the time. His way is above all other ways.

When walking with God, it isn't just doing it when it feels right, or when it is easy, but doing it all the time. He didn't say it would be easy, but it is good, because no longer is it about me, but about God above all things. He has defined it, He has gone before us and He is with me in it all. His way not my way, His will not my will and He will lead and guide me through. The more I put Him first, the more He makes my path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

We love God by worshiping Him: Luke 4:8 "And Jesus answered him, “It is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’ ”"

To love God I must desire Him: Psalm 19:10 "More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb."

To love God is to obey Him: 1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome." and Psalm 40:8 "I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”"

I am a Child of God

I am a child of God, He bought me with a price. He chose me from before the foundations of the earth. He picked me and I do not have to be afraid, because God has set me free. When we think that we are alone, remember that our Father in Heaven, never leaves us nor forsakes us. He is with us and wants us to trust in Him and love Him more than anything else.

This song has meant so much to me, we sang it yesterday in Church, but I have not been able to stop listening to it, just is a great reminder.
