When I say a gift from God, we immediately think of Him giving us eternal life, or Him sending His son to die on the cross for our sins, but He has given us so much more than that.
When you know that you are going to die, you prepare. 1st you get your life in order, you make your life right with God. 2nd you get your relationships in order, because you want to die with things in the right place, like with your spouse, your children and so on. 3rd, you get your affairs in order with your jobs, what people are going to do without you, what you will leave and such. And the list goes on.
God has given us life, He has given us breath. He has said that we will not know the hour, day or year of His return. It is easy to take the time He has given us for granted, thinking that it is endless, but we do not know when we will take our last breath, we just assume that we have tomorrow to do what is right and we put off the very things we should already have in order. I do not know the day I will die, but I do know that God knows, but yet I waste time like I have the rest of my life.
I am not saying we live like we are dying today, but what I am saying we live as to put God first in all we do and how important that is. We make use of every moment we have with God, every moment we have with our spouses, our kids and our families. We don't take for granted what God has given us and that is time, we use the time to bring Him glory. We get right with God each moment of the day, we make sure that our family knows how important they are, not just through what I may say, but put my words into action. I don't want to look back on my life and say if I had only had more time, or I wish I had used the time that God had given me better, because today God has given you this moment to start making it right with Him, making it right with the people you say you love. Don't wait until the end to do it right, take the time that God has given us all, to get our life right with God. Follow the steps on the dying people, they make sure they are right with God first, then they make sure their families are right with them and after that they worry about the things that do not matter as much in the long run, they worry about the job, etc.
If God took you home today, is your life right with God? Is your life right with your spouse? Is your life right with your kids? Etc.. Etc.. God has given us direction of to the order of our days, Him first, our spouses, our kids and so on, if our life is not right with God other things will be broken too. Isn't it time that we take the time He has given us to do it His way?
Have a blessed day and may you thank God for the time He has given you.
