The Holy Spirit

My beautiful wife and I attended a marriage conference this last weekend. One of the stories they told was about the Holy Spirit. I will try to retell the story:

A man had a classic car, that car was mint condition and he wanted to share the beautify of the car with everyone. He told everyone about the car and invited them to come look at it. They all came out took in the beauty of the car. They looked at the interior, the outside color and for the age of the car it was kept in pristine condition. After the crowd had thinned some, the man looked at his watch and said he had a long distance to travel and must be going, instead of getting behind the wheel, he got behind the car and started to push it. One of the onlookers asked why he doesn't drive it, he said he was, the man asked for the keys, he got in the car and started it up. The car started right up, the engine sounded strong and full of energy. The owner looked confused, but he got behind the wheel and put it in gear and drove it out of the parking lot. The man that had started it was sitting in the passenger seat and as they drove down the road, the wind whipping through their hair, the freedom of not expending all that energy pushing the car, they were able to really experience the power of the car.

How many times do we try to push the Holy Spirit, instead of allowing Him to fill us and using His strength instead of ours? Jesus said He is our strength, or are we trying to do it on our own? Allow the Holy Spirit to fill you today, empty us of us and fill us up with Him. One thing to have Him in us another thing to be filled by Him. Time to do it His way not our own.

"Holy Spirit"

There's nothing worth more
That could ever come close
No thing can compare
You're our living hope
Your presence, Lord
I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your presence, Lord

[Chorus:]
Holy Spirit, You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord
Your presence, Lord

There's nothing worth more
That could ever come close
No thing can compare
You're our living hope
Your presence, Lord
I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your presence, Lord

[Chorus]

[x4:]
Let us become more aware of Your presence
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness

[Chorus]

Blessed Assurance

This morning as I got up I was singing this song, not sure why, but we are to praise God all day. Seek Him, thank Him and we are His, what a place to be.

Blessed Assurance

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

My devotions today was about how nothing is by chance, there is no luck, because God has His hand on each of us. He knows all that we are going through, He is with us and nothing gets by Him, not even a bird falls without Him knowing, that is quite assuring to me, what about you?

There are no accidents, coincidences, or lucky breaks for Christians. An unseen hand guides our footsteps, ordains our work, opens and closes doors, and directs us in service. When we walk in God’s way, He places us right where we need to be, just when we need to be there.

To the child of God, there is no such thing as an accident. He travels an appointed way.

Turn Your Eyes On Jesus

Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!"

O soul, are you weary and troubled?

No light in the darkness you see?

There’s light for a look at the Savior,

And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.
