The Fullness of Jesus Christ

This morning my Mother wrote me an e-mail to ask me, what I thought the fullness of Jesus Christ really meant. I spent sometime pondering that and wondering what that really means to me. As I pondered it a scripture came to mind: Acts 17:28 "For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring."

I have seen God really move in ways that I could not have imagined, I think the more we rely on Him, the more we are allowing His fullness to take hold in our lives. I think His fullness will be different for each of us, but it is when we completely rely on Him, He gives us the words to say, He gives us more than we can imagine.

When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray in Luke 11, I think it really sums it up, Your will be done... When we allow God, it is not longer what I want, but what He wants and then we are able to allow Him to have His being in us. It is when we surrender it all to Him, moment by moment, not day by day.

I think that the more we bring every thought captive to God, the more He can transform us to what He wants for us. 2 Corinthians 10:5 "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

As I was writing this, the thought came to mind, when we pray what are we saying? I was thinking about some of the prayers I have uttered or even said, Lord help this family to come to know you, or give me the words to say, or help X do this, or help X to learn more about You. I think those are nice words, but I am telling God what I want, instead of praying, Lord you know the XXXX family and you know where they are walking, Lord let your will be done in their lives and Lord I thank you for X, I am having a hard time with X, but Lord let your will be done in there life. I think no longer is it what I want to see, but what I am allowing God to do.

The fullness goes from what I am asking, to allowing God to be God. Removing God from the box, those prayers, the way I think can put God in a box, but when I allow Him to live and move and have His being in me, I am no longer comparing my walk to someone else's, but allowing God to be real to me.

When I surrender all to Him, I allow God to be God. I allow His fullness to have His way with me, I allow Him to lead and guide me. No longer is it about what I want, but what He wants for me. I take out the equation of myself and replace it with Your will God. Being thankful in everything, being thankful changes my perspective and keeps it focused on God.

What do you think the fullness of Jesus Christ means to you?
