I remember a story I heard once in my Uncle's church. A woman stood up to tell of what had happened in her life. She explained that she was constantly busy about many things, that she couldn't get everything accomplished in a day and how frustrating it was. She said that day after day, it seemed that the time it took her to do her work took her further and further away from God. She would try and read the Bible and do her devotions, but her mind was constantly going to places other then her focusing her attention on God. She struggled with this for sometime, but then she realized that Jesus was the reason she was there. If she allowed Him to order her day, maybe in the chaos of life, that she would have time for Him. The next morning she prayed, she said Lord this day is yours, you have designed this day for me and given me a new day to live and to breath. She said she wants to serve Him even with all the millions of things she had to do. She said Lord I surrender my schedule to you, you order my steps, you order my day, let me allow you to do it today. After that day was over, she had accomplished her tasks in a timely manner, she had extra time to spend praying and just being with God. She set forth to do it day after day, because He gave her each day and each day she had more time.
I see how true that is in my life, when I try and do things on my own, they take longer, they fall apart and they are filled with stumbling blocks, but when I allow God to lead my day, yes there are issues, but I have surrender my day to Him. And then when those issues arise it is just saying Lord today is yours, this issue is one you knew was coming and you know the best way to handle it, please let me hear your voice in it and allow you to carry me through. I struggle with this daily, but it has to be more of Him and less of me, because when it is more of me and less of Him is when the struggles really seem to overwhelm and take hold. The storms can be learning storms, or they can be created because I didn't learn to allow God and I try to drive, but He is there reminding me, Geoff I will carry you, but you have to let me.
Today who is carrying you? Is it all about what you want, or is it what God wants you to do? Is it His schedule or yours? Is it His day or yours?
I am reminded to slow down and smell the roses, if there were any to smell... But just to take a breath today. Thank God for the allowing you to walk this earth today and thank Him for your life, for your health, for all that He has given you, take a moment to be thankful, it says we are to enter His gates with??? And His courts with what??? Take a moment and thank Him and praise Him for all He has done, change your perspective and know what happens? I don't know, try it.
Have a wonderful day and may God bless you in all you do.
