Rebellion

It is easy to look past the ways we are, because we think it is alright to walk in the ways of the world, instead of the ways of God. God has called us each by our names, He did that before the foundations of the world, He knew and knows, but yet we still want to do what we want to do. We seem to think we know better than God. He has given us ways to live, He has told us as children how to be, as adults how to be, as spouses how to be and as parents how to be. When we do not follow His teachings, we are in fact saying Lord I know better than you, my way is so much easier, but is it really?

Back in the old testament, God told King Saul to go to battle against the Amalekites and to slay everything, not to bring back one thing 1 Samuel 15:3. Saul however took it on himself to say well, I will bring back all the animals so that I can sacrifice them to God. He was rebellious, because he thought he knew better. That is not what God commanded of Him, He said to kill everything. God said to Saul, that to obey is better than sacrifice, because rebellion is worse than witchcraft/deviation 1 Samuel 15:22-23.

God is very clear about what is important to Him. In John 14:15 "“If you love me, keep my commands." Jesus says it very clearly, there isn't anything grey area, He says if you love me keep my commands, not if the weather is good and bad, the days are hard or easy. It comes down to doing what God commands of us, Love the Lord your God with what? And then when we love God we will keep His commands, because we want to honor Him about the world, above ourselves.

We have not only the New Testament to learn from, but the Old Testament as well. Isn't it time to take what has happened in the past and learn from it. Is God calling you to a specific thing, but you think you know better than God, but really who knows better than God? Is it time to actually do what God has called us to do, live how He has clearly stated we are to live? There is no grey area with God, there is right and wrong. If you have questions for God, seek Him and you will find His answer, take it to the word of God and see what it says.

Is it time to stand for God in every avenue of our life, instead of doing it just when it is easy? They say home is the first missions field, if the home is in chaos our lives will follow. Time to get the home in order for God. Saul followed what the people said, because he was fearful, but I think our fear is in the wrong place, we need to be more afraid of God than of people.
