Selfishness

It is truly sad to think that the very thing that the Bible talks about being the corruptor of man is the very thing that has infiltrator the church, is affecting the very people that we stand next to and call our brothers and sisters of God. It may be even affecting us (gasp!!). What did he just say, is he talking about me, how dare he, say that about me, he doesn't know me. The very essence of our existence is not based on "me" or even you. It is based on God. Wow, isn't that profound, it isn't based on what I do, not what I eat, not what I wear or even how I look. It isn't based on what car I drive or even were I work, it is based on the God that created me. Can I look in the mirror and realize that the world does not revolve around me? Can I realize that I am not the most important thing that was ever created, that I am not the most important thing today to get out of bed? Oh yes I got out of bed, to deliver this startling truth, that God created each of us for a purpose and that purpose is to bring Him glory, not ourselves. It is to Glorify Him. We have lost our way if we think that we need to bring ourselves glory, that we need to shine brighter than the Son of God. We are there like the moon in the heavens, to reflect the sun's light, not to be the light. Jesus is the light of the world, we are just to be a reflection of Him, not to be Him.

I think there is a stark contrast to what people of forgotten. God is supposed to be glorified by our actions, not be who we are or by what we look like, because guess what He can make the most unexpecting person shine, because He is God. If you think you have to be a certain way to shine, you are wrong. He is the God of the universe, He is God. If you have put God in a box, look around you see who has shined for Him, are they all the perfectly put together people? Do they all have a great house and drive a great car? No, they all have realized that they are insignificant and He is the only way, truth and life and they are His moon, they will just reflect His light. They are nothing without Him.

When we realize that life without Him is nothing, we realize that life with Him is everything. We have to realize that the world does not revolve around us, that we are not the center of it all, that we are here for the glory of God. In our work places, in our relationships, in our marriages, as children to our parents, to our friends, we are to do it to bring glory to God, NOT to ourselves. The relationships that we have DO NOT revolve around us. Do NOT revolve around me if I get up in  the morning or not, they revolve around if God gives us another day to bring Him glory.

Isn't it time to get our priorities in order? Isn't it time to stop looking at the world as our home, because it is not our home, it is only a stopping ground, we are only travelers here for a short period of time. Are we making it all about ourselves?
