Faith, do you have the faith it takes to step out of the boat. The boat (our lives) is safety, it keeps us dry and it keeps us grounded, but is the boat causing us not to have the faith it takes to lives as the Bible calls us to live.
Today as I was driving to work I was listening to a CD by Chip Ingram about Break Through. It is funny how our lives are just like the disciples and even the pharisees. We are all about rules and traditions. We don't have faith because we want to see great miracles. We want to believe, but yet we don't want to takes the steps it takes. We have been given excuses that repentance we can do, but we can do the same thing again over and over again. But true repentance is turning from the sin, turning from the thing that is an idol in our lives, it is turning 180 degrees and not going there again.
My life is like the bible. If you really get into it and see the examples of how the disciples believed and then doubted, then they believed again and then doubted, then again they believed then doubted and they had the Son of God walking with them. How amazing is that, but even with Him with them they doubted. They wanted to see Him do miracles, but even after all of the miracles they wanted to see more. But the broken people came and believed that He was the messiah with no doubt. The woman that believed so much by touching His robe that she would be healed and she was healed. How little faith we have that our prayers will be answered, that we can have what the others have and that is Jesus with us. Our lives are belief and unbelief and belief and unbelief, we are like on a roller coaster, just like the disciples.
Isn't it time that we step out of the boat, yes there are going to be storms and big waves, but Jesus is there with us. Just like with Peter, he stepped out of the boat and when he doubted, he cried out Jesus save me. Jesus took his hand and lifted him up onto the surface of the water. Can you imagine, even when you don't feel Jesus or see His answers right away we doubt, we fumble we start sinking and we want to stop believing, but Jesus says believe and the answer is in the faith in Me. Believe and l will do this for you, I will walk with you and even when it seems I am not there I am, you have to believe, have faith in Me.
Do we have faith like a mustard seed, because that mustard seed grows and becomes a huge plant. Trust God today for He is the only way. Change happens when we are able to put God first in all we do. It is the catalyst for change, only real change can happen with God at the helm. What changes do you want in your life?
Today is a new day. Are you willing to step out of the boat? Do not fear for the Lord says He is with you and no matter how the circumstances look believe and He will guide you through the times. But we must first have faith, believe. Trust in God.
