On my way into work this morning, it was blowing and white out conditions, but as I pushed forward I realized that we need to trust God in all things. I was given an assignment to read Genesis 22. It is the story about Abraham and Isaac. God asked him to take His only son and sacrifice him to God. Abraham without questioning God took his son and set out to do just as God had asked him to do. Did you get that, without question Abraham trusted God, not even did he question Him, he trusted Him.
Today, we have a hard time trusting others, can you imagine trusting God so much that when asked you do not question God? It is a concept that we don't quite understand. What is trust? Do you even trust yourself, let alone trusting God?
It is easy to say yes, to all these questions, but I think a real hard look is something we all need to take. I need to take. Yes, to lay down my life for someone else may be easy (well not easy, but it will be easier then giving up what I have known for years, maybe my son, maybe my marriage, maybe a habit that has been with me, maybe...). Do you see what I am saying? It is easy to say yes I trust God, but when it comes down to the choices that we make, do they define the trust that God call Abraham to?
I think it is easy to say we trust someone, but the real question is a deeper one, is a harder one to answer, is so much more then what we thought was possible. Do you trust the one thing that is unseen, do you trust God with the very choices of today? Do you trust Him to help you along the very hard way? Do you know what I mean?
Look up the word, define what it means and see that it is the belief that that person is not going to let you down. It is having the confidence in something greater. Isn't it time that we say what we mean and mean what we say?
Last thought for now... If we have a hard time trusting, start trusting yourself, start seeing that trust just like everything else starts with you. Once you trust yourself the ability to trust others will come. But it starts with you. You see how many things start with who???? They start with a choice that you have to make for you, not for Joe, not for Sally, (unless that is your name)... They start with you. Is it time that the change starts?
