I don't know about you, but I was always looking for the big things and missing out on the small things. We look to be blessed in big ways, at least I did and when I was blessed in small ways it didn't seem to have that much impact on me, because it was like I was looking for something bigger, a bigger sign, a bigger thing. Instead of seeing the small things for big things. Does that make sense?
This morning on my way to work. It is a very cold morning. I left where I live and the roads were clear. It was a nice drive, but as I got closer to Buffalo, well the drive got worse and worse. I was following a tractor trailer. It was going at a steady speed at first, but as the roads got worse, it slowed down providing me a shield from the worsening conditions. That tractor trailer continued to move forward as I couldn't see 10 ft in front of me, but the one thing I could see was the lights flashing. It was a comfort knowing that even though I couldn't see anything else, that his lights was leading me on.
Life is so much the same way. We look for the big lights, but it is the little lights that can guide us home. Jesus is the light, no man comes to the father, but by Him. He is the light of the world and He is the flashing lights when the storm wages on. He is the great lighthouse that keeps our ships from crashing against the rocks. He is the only way and that tractor trailer reminded me that even in the darkest nights, the biggest storms, that Jesus will be our light, He will guide us to safety.
Be thankful in all the little things and you will be amazed how your perspective changes and what those little things will mean to you.
Oh this is so good Geoff! Love that analogy with the truck. So true that we look for the big blessings in life and take for granted His every day provision and grace. Great reminder! :-)
