What a way to start this blog, what a title. Doesn't that cover all different roles of life, wait that covers us all, we are all human. What do we have that is the same, no matter the color of our skin, no matter what gender we are, no matter what sexual orientation we are we have one simple yet complicated thing the same. Are you ready for it? Do you know what it is?
OK, I have left you hanging long enough and no it isn't that we are human, because you already knew that. But we all have the need for acceptance. We all want to feel like we belong. You look at our kids, they want to say the right things and do the right things. If we are married, we avoid the wrong conversations, the wrong things to talk about. If we are single we talk to our friends as if we will lose them because we don't say the right thing. We want to be accepted in church and in home, we want to be accepted by our work, we want to be accepted no matter what and we will do anything to be accepted. It is a scary thought what we all do to feel apart of something.
Our kids need to know they are loved no matter what. That we are proud of them, that they mean the world to us no matter what. Our husbands and wives should not have to wait for a special occasion to know they are loved, today you should take a minute just to tell them why you love them. We don't know what life is going to bring to us, but we do know what we have right now, make sure they know how you feel, make sure they know that you love them. It doesn't matter the past, but what matters is today. Why wait for another Valentines day, or anniversery, or birthday or some special day to tell them just what they mean to you. Just how special they are to you, just how you love them. Don't wait and don't waste the time you have, because we do not know what tomorrow will bring, but today brings you hope for telling them just how much they mean to you.
We all want to belong to something, let the people you have with you, know that you are proud of them, that you love them and that you are so happy to be married to them, or that you are so happy that they are your kids, or that you are so happy that they are your boyfriend or girlfriend. There is no time like today to make sure they know what they mean to you.
Today can be the first day of the best of your life, start it right. Start making the changes, because change starts with you. Have a wonderful rest of Sunday and may you see that today is the day to begin the change. Don't put it off.
