Words

I have been reminded just how words can be a tool or a weapon. It is easy to change one word in a sentence to cause it to mean something totally different. That one word can make or break something. Be vigilant in our words, make the most of the words we speak and type and make sure they are what we want to say.

After thinking about something I said last night, I was reminded of a fact one of my counselors once told me. He said Geoff sometimes you speak without thinking of what you are going to say. He said this is an issue (you would think I would have learned). I need to hesitate before speaking, because it is better to be considered a fool, then proving I am one through the words I speak.

Take note of your words, make sure they contain the truth and don't be to quick to speak, for a quick tongue can spoil the message, where a wise tongue waits and allows God to order the words I am going to speak. I don't want to be proven a fool, but learn from falling down.

Proverbs 21:23
"Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble."

James 1:26
"If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless."

Psalm 19:14
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer."

There are many more Bible verses about our words. I want my words to be a representation of who God is making me, not who I was. I want God to guard my tongue, may it not contain any hint of deceit and may He help me walk through it all.
